CoolChange Gallery was formed in 2005 to bring the unique work of artists both nationally and internationally from their workshop to your home. The Gallery is perfectly located in one of the iconic and closely-held historic apple cool stores within the Mapua wharf precinct with its myriad of galleries, restaurants and bars building yearly on its popularity, and attracting flocks of visitors from near and far.
The village of Mapua is located ‘on the sea’, halfway between Nelson and Motueka, and is soaring in popularity as a place to both visit and live. Spoilt with natural beauty, all things drinkable, and a premier food basket that only sunny Nelson can deliver, it’s no wonder this coastal paradise is so appealing for those looking for great community in an idyllic setting.
Our premier collection of art and finely crafted unique work is the result of many years of amazing journeys. From the foothills of the Himalayas to the African savannah, the American subcontinent to the steamy archipelago of Southeast Asia, we have explored, discovered, and made long lasting friendships with our supplier artisan’s. Together we have developed relationships, exchanged ideas, and mutually benefited well beyond the normal platitudes of the usual ‘fair trade’ keyboard warriors.
As a result of this “feet on the ground” approach, much of the stock for sale is uniquely ours, ‘one off’ or made to order. This approach has allowed us an unprecedented position in the market whilst delivering the Wow factor time and time again.
The gallery is for sale as an unencumbered going concern priced at $535,000, with all import related aspects of the business being part of the sale. The registered business name (CoolChange Gallery) will be assigned to the buyer with the purchase. With a great landlord relationship and an excellent long-term lease in place this business is on a solid footing for the future.
With much of the hard work done, any purchaser can springboard off the 18 years of supplier contacts and systems in place to expand in a multitude of directions and approaches. If the travel side is appealing, there are lifetimes of avenues to adventure down, search and explore. Or if you can’t drag yourself away from beautiful Mapua, just continue with the existing offshore suppliers and build upon the local artisan range, or any combination of the above.

Whichever way you see the future, the current owners will help with everything that is needed to ensure a smooth transition including travelling to the various parts of the world to meet with artisans, suppliers, contacts and agents.
With over 200 sqm of well stocked retail showroom and plenty of stock on hand, the new owner will seamlessly transition and trade from day one. Add in four private car parks and the 14 sqm of attached office space, there is no reason not to do what needs to be done.
A complete database of showroom stock and stock on hand will become part of the new owners business information setup. This database also includes all historic sales from business inception to current day. Also available is the shipping book which details most sales sent nationally and internationally. The current owners are willing to make available one year free offsite stock storage if required.
